My Philosophy of Counseling and Therapy My philosophy of psychotherapy is to help the individual gain trust, understanding and love for The Self despite the problems s/he faces. I work in a "non-pathologizing" style where the client is viewed as a whole person separate from his/her problems. One's feelings, thoughts and actions are aspects of the person and not the whole person. To reach this goal, I strive to work collaboratively with the person to empower "The Self" with the belief that healing can be achieved by the willingness to take responsibility to contribute to one's own growth. I believe Therapy is most beneficial and effective when I, The Therapist establish a trusting, nurturing and safe environment and relationship with my client that is free of expectations and judgments. --Behjat Shirazi, MA, LPCC
